Yeah I think in the past I've relied on my betas to do the vast majority of the editing and I want to change that a bit, particularly when I'm working with betas who are less comfortable giving criticism etc. I'm definitely going to put the reading aloud idea into practice.
I need to get a bit more ruthless with getting rid of stuff that doesn't work, and yes totally agree with saving it for another time!
100%, I'm gearing myself up to try out all of the wonderful suggestions in this thread until I find the process that works best for me.
