So inspired by gracerene , this month I've decided to have a go at setting some writing goals to see if it'll help me actually get stuff written....

These goals all come with the caveat that I'm currently transitioning from my current job into a new one, and for both roles October and November are by far the busiest months of the year, so I'll be putting in a fair amount of overtime that will cut into my writing time significantly. Hopefully I'll still get plenty done despite that, but we'll see!


Next Gen Fest Fic - The deadline for this fic is the 14th October so getting this finished and submitted is my top priority this month. I've currently got alphas looking over the first draft to make sure the plot/emotional arcs/characters etc all work, and once I've heard back from them it'll be editing time. I'm hopeful that it won't need tooooo much editing, but once I get started I always find myself changing more than I expect. I'm pretty confident this will get submitted in time.

Owlpost Fics - These aren't due until mid-November but as I have several to do I really want to get cracking on them this month. I've already looked through the wishlists and come up with some ideas for them, but this month I'd like to get outlines done for all of them and hopefully at least one, if not two, fully written. I am not good at last minute panic writing so I'd much rather get a lot of this done with plenty of time before the deadline.

Random drabbles/ficlets - I have a couple of Drarry drabbles/ficlets that are so so nearly done, so I'd love to get them finished and posted early on in the month. I've been concentrating on fests for a long time now, so it would be nice to post a few shorter things that aren't anon. These include:

• A fluffy ficlet in which Harry watches Draco nap (less creepy than it sounds I promise!) inspired by my boyfriend falling asleep on the sofa the other afternoon
• A short drabble about that amazing moment when you first touch the hand of someone you really really fancy, and that electric excitement you feel at that first tiny bit of contact inspired by this tumblr post by Lettersbyelise
• A Drarry as roommates ficlet inspired by a prompt shared on the Drarry discord
• and finally, a smutty pwp based on a tumblr prompt that's been sat in my inbox for months

I've also got about a million other ideas floating around my brain that I really want to write, including a longer Harry x Ginny fic, but I think the above list is plenty to be getting on with this month!

Plus I'm also so so so excited that I'll soon be able to claim my Drizzle fic - it's by far my favourite thing I've written, so I can't wait to finally be able to squee about it with everyone 😍

So last night, I decided to really treat my boyfriend (who is not a particularly big Harry Potter fan) and take him to see Voldemort and the Teenage Hogwarts Musical Parody as our anniversary evening out. 

I had no idea what to expect, other than that it had got good reviews at the Fringe, and a vague idea that it might be a rip off of A Very Potter Musical. But actually, it was so funny, and so well done. The actors were great, the jokes were hilarious, the songs amazing, and not gonna lie, I left with a teeny bit of a crush on Voldemort?! Which is a weird place to be in (although let's be real, I totally fancied Voldemort in AVPM too). 

I won't spoil any of the plot, but safe to say it'll make you see Voldemort in a whole new light, and you'll have a smile on your face from the minute you first hear that Harry Potter theme tune as the lights come up. Even my boyfriend (again, not an HP fan, and definitely not a musical fan) was laughing the whole way through and left having had a great time. 

I totally, totally recommend going to see it if it ever comes to a theatre near you.

But, and I cannot stress this enough, please don't make the mistake that the parents sat in the row in front of me did - this is not a child friendly show!
